Gen Con always has great RPG events and an ocean of game systems to play; this year was no exception. The biggest thing by far was the big announcement from Dungeons & Dragons about Universes Beyond. There was also a lot of attention on Daggheart. Let's roll up some characters and explore the news from Gen Con 26.
Dungeons & Dragons and Universes Beyond
In a concept not unfamiliar to MTG players, Wizards announced that they are launching a program called Universes Beyond. Dungeons and Dragons are partnering with two MAJOR Intellectual Properties to bring D&D to their worlds. The first stop in the D&D Universes Beyond train is none other than the storied realm of Azeroth. That is right, World of Warcraft is coming to the pages of a Dungeons and Dragons module! All 13 WoW classes, 9 subclasses and more will make your game feel just like you are on the plains of battle. The book also includes 7 WoW dungeons specifically redesigned from the game to fit the tabletop experience. And fret not that you will lack interesting opponents; there are 50+ new monsters and 30 boss stat blocks to generate the biggest baddie you can imagine. Then finally you can bask in the gold and glory with 35+ new magic items, mounts, and companion creatures plus renown rewards across 23 factions.
D&D WoW will have a variety of products available on release. There will be the standard book, a merloc alternate cover, and a collector’s edition featuring a special slipcase, foil cover, and sculpted, faction-based cover treatments to proclaim your allegiance. There will also be Map Packs, GM Screens and miniatures for both factions. Let the looting begin!
Slated release for the WoW D&D products is for November 2026. We are already taking pre-orders on our website, so make sure to place your orders as we expect this to sell well, especially the alt and collector’s editions. Look forward to spending the holidays slaying orcs and grinding loot with your loved ones!
The other universe we get to visit will occur a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away… Star Wars and Dungeons and Dragons are partnering in 2027! The announcement was sparse in details, but fans of both properties are already excited by the prospect of one of the biggest RPGs meeting one of the biggest entertainment franchises in history. We will make sure that the droids you are looking for, er, in this case, information about this exciting new release, gets shared as we get details.
